Sometimes we may have lost a tooth due to an injury, playing a sport or even through illness. Whatever the cause, missing teeth can impact negatively on our quality of life – socially, in our health and wellbeing and in our ability to speak and eat.
Bridges are replacement teeth that are individually designed to match your natural teeth in look and feel. These are placed on natural teeth and anchored by the teeth either side of the gap. Dental bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. They are designed to blend in with your teeth as naturally as possible.
If you require a dental bridge, we will take impressions of your mouth so that our laboratory can build you a bespoke restoration. Once completed, you will need to visit us again, so we can fit and polish the final restoration. Bridges are long lasting, resilient and can be cared for just like your natural teeth.
To find out more about whether you are suitable for a dental bridge, please book in to see one of our dentists who will able to advise and guide you accordingly.
There are two main procedures associated with Inman aligner treatment which allow us to be able to give you the beautiful smile that you deserve. One of them is the use of attachment technology and the other is known as IPR. More details of each are given below:
Dental bridges are fixed replacement for your missing teeth that use existing teeth as support to help hold them in place.
They are fixed replacements for your missing teeth so you donot need to worry about removing them. They function like your missing teeth sohelp you eat and chew better. They are long lasting and resilient fixed replacements for your missing teeth.
They rely on the adjacent teeth to act as supporting structures and so are solely reliant on the health of these teeth to able to help support them.
There are 2 types of dental bridge: Either Conventional or Adhesive.
Conventional bridges are where a crown/onlay is required to be placed on either one or both teeth adjacent to a gap in order to restore the missing gap.
The average lifespan of a conventional bridge is 7-15 years but depends on the health of the adjacent teeth.
Adhesive bridges also known as “Sticky bridges”, “Resinbonded bridges” or “Maryland bridges” are ones that do not require the adjacent teeth to be crowned as they are stuck onto them by way of a metal (or porcelain) wing that attaches to the adjacent tooth/teeth.
They often need little to no preparation to the adjacent teeth so are more biologically friendly but have a greater tendency to debondif excessive forces are applied to it. The average lifespan of Adhesive bridges are 5-10 years and again depends on the health of the adjacent teeth.
This can be advised once we have assessed your teeth. We would advise you book in for an examination where we can take the necessary x-rays and advise you on the suitability for this procedure and whether any alternatives would fair better.
We offer a haven of tranquillity, thoughtfully designed to stimulate the senses and complemented by state-of-the-art technology that makes your experience calm, relaxing and ultimately re-energising.
