Zirconia implants are ceramic dental implants that are a permanent solution to the loss of a tooth or teeth. Zirconia dental implants are durable, long-lasting metal free dental implants that restore your smile with the most natural results. While traditional titanium implants have been a common choice for patients, zirconia implants have grown in popularity due to their comfort, nonmetallic composition, and durability
‘Teeth in a day’ isn’t a single type of procedure but a technique which enables many different dental implant procedures to be carried out in just one day. There are many different implant procedures from single tooth implants, multiple tooth implants, Zygomatic implants, all-on-four, overdentures enforced by implants and more.
While titanium implants have been the traditional oral surgery solution, metal free dental implants offer many advantages that traditional titanium implants cannot. The ceramic composition of zirconia implants allows for the most natural result with no gray hue along your gum line, as titanium implants can cause. The biocompatible nature of zirconia implants allows for healthy osseointegration. The process of osseointegration is the securing and bonding of your dental implant to your natural gum line and living jaw bone. This provides a secure base that ensures your dental implant is functional, secure, reliable, and durable.
Because of the titanium composition of traditional implants, they have the possibility to corrode over time. This corrosion can lead to implant complications or even implant failure. Also, some patients are allergic to titanium implants. Zirconia implants do not contain titanium, so patients with titanium allergies can still benefit from the restoration of their smiles with zirconia implants.
The Zygomatic implants are seen as better in some ways then the more traditional methods. For example, Zygomatic implants does not require bone grafts, which can take up to half a year to heal, delaying the eventual dental implants you need. As stated before, Zygomatic implants allow people who would ordinarily have to go through a great deal of surgery get their implants sooner. From restoring smiles to improving chewing and speaking, having a full mouth worth of teeth is something each and everyone of use deserve. If you are thinking of dental implants but think you are not a candidate because of a lack of supporting bone, then you should consider Zygomatic implants.
The majority of dental implant procedures are performed in office with a local anesthesia or intravenous sedation. During your zirconia implant procedure, Dr. Mark will place the base of the dental implant into your gum line where the tooth is missing. A temporary crown will be placed on the implant during your healing time. Between your procedure and follow-up visit with Dr. Mark, your gums and jaw will reach ideal osseointegration with your zirconia implant(s). Once your jaw and gum line have cohesively and securely bonded with your ceramic dental implants, you will return to Dr. Mark’s office to receive your permanent crown.
With his expertise, Dr. Mark is able to place zirconia implants with minimally invasive technology, which will have you returning to your normal daily activities as soon as possible. The procedure itself varies in time depending on the number of implants you need, but a procedure for one implant takes only 15-20 minutes. You may experience 1-2 days of slight soreness after your procedure.
Zirconia implants have an overall healing process of 6-12 weeks to reach osseointegration. Any soreness or discomfort will only last 1-2 days, but to reach proper osseointegration, your ceramic dental implants need time to adequately heal and then bond with your living gum and bone. During this time, we advise you to not eat excessively sticky or hard foods, as these can compromise the process of osseointegration. All procedures and recovery times are unique to the patient and depend on each individual and his or her particular needs.
Dear Patient,
As you may be aware, we have only been seeing patients for emergencies to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as mandated by Central Government. We are delighted to announce that as of the 8th June 2020 we opened in a reduced capacity with certain limitations still in place for everyone’s safety. However as restrictions are gradually eased over the next few weeks, we hope things will return to something resembling normality with respect to the dental services we can provide.
Our community has been through a lot over the past few months, and all of us are looking forward to supporting all our patients. While many things have changed, one thing that remains the same is our commitment to your care and safety.
You would have noticed in your previous visits that infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. With the current situation in mind, we want to tell you about the added measures being taken to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible.
Our practice follows infection control recommendations made by the Department of health and social care – Health Technical Memorandum 01-05, as well as the Standard Operating Procedures. To ensure that we are up to date on any new clinical guidance, we also follow the advice of the, Care Quality Commission, Public Health England, the British Dental Association, and the General Dental Council.
