At Zental, we believe that dental implants are the most natural-looking way of replacing missing teeth. Implants look, feel and function exactly as a natural tooth and can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or even an entire upper or lower jaw. They can also work as anchors for denture implants, known as implant-retained dentures, to prevent them from slipping or coming loose when eating.
Upper right broken tooth, removed and replaced with an immediate implant and crown.
Missing upper right molar and premolar, replaced with implants and a fixed bridge.
Dental implants are safe, and a well-established treatment. They are like natural teeth which will last as long as you care for them.
How well you look after your implants – and whether you go for your regular maintenance appointments – will have the biggest impact on how long they will last.
If you don’t care for your dental implants they will develop a coating similar to what you get on neglected natural teeth. Left untreated, this can lead to gum infection, bleeding, soreness and general discomfort. You could get all these problems with natural teeth.
If your implants are well looked after, and if the bone they are fitted to is strong and healthy, you can expect them to last for many years. However, just as with other surgical implants (such as a hip replacement) there is no lifetime guarantee.
At Zental we only use the highest quality dental implants and components from the world’s leading producers. Each implant is backed by proven research and comes with a life time guarantee.
This depends highly on the condition of the bone in your jaw. Your dentist will arrange for a number of tests to find out the amount of bone is still there. If there is not enough, or if it isn’t healthy enough, it may not be possible to place implants without grafting bone into the area first.
A simple local anesthetic will be administered as placing an implant is often easier than taking a tooth out. You will not feel any pain at the time but, just like after an extraction, you may feel some discomfort during the week after the surgery.
General anesthetics are rarely used for implants and are generally only used for very complicated cases.
Dear Patient,
As you may be aware, we have only been seeing patients for emergencies to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as mandated by Central Government. We are delighted to announce that as of the 8th June 2020 we opened in a reduced capacity with certain limitations still in place for everyone’s safety. However as restrictions are gradually eased over the next few weeks, we hope things will return to something resembling normality with respect to the dental services we can provide.
Our community has been through a lot over the past few months, and all of us are looking forward to supporting all our patients. While many things have changed, one thing that remains the same is our commitment to your care and safety.
You would have noticed in your previous visits that infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. With the current situation in mind, we want to tell you about the added measures being taken to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible.
Our practice follows infection control recommendations made by the Department of health and social care – Health Technical Memorandum 01-05, as well as the Standard Operating Procedures. To ensure that we are up to date on any new clinical guidance, we also follow the advice of the, Care Quality Commission, Public Health England, the British Dental Association, and the General Dental Council.
You may notice some changes at your next appointment which have been made to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call the practice or visit our website.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbours, and friends.
Sincerely,
The Team at Zental
